GEATWIN: the dual-support stabilometric platform

GEATWIN is a static platform composed of two separate support surfaces for the assessment of postural sway.
The system measures the Center of Pressure (COP) both overall and for each foot, providing professionals with a quantitative and qualitative evaluation.

Technology

Thanks to its two independent plates, it enables a detailed postural analysis and allows professionals to monitor patient progress over time.
The platform assesses stability in symmetrical and asymmetrical upright positions through specific protocols included in the software application.

GEATWIN integrates six sensors positioned at the vertices of the plantar support triangle, ensuring accurate detection of load distribution.
It acquires the Center of Pressure (COP) with 24-bit resolution and a 100 Hz frequency, providing extremely precise measurement of postural oscillations analyzed through standardized algorithms.

Each platform is equipped with an integrated laser system designed to ensure precise foot positioning on the support surface, guaranteeing maximum accuracy and reliability in measurement repeatability.

Sensory-motor assessment

The GEATWIN platform is equipped with software that includes over 20 tests dedicated to stabilometric assessment, offering a wide range of protocols to analyze the subject’s postural responses.
Each one includes between 2 and 12 tests each.

Specifically, the following are implemented:

  • Basic Evaluation (BASIC)
  • Vertigo Test of Balance (VTOB)
  • modified – Clinical Test of Sensory Integration and Balance (m-CTSIB).
  • Vertigo Test of Balance with Cervical retroflexion (VTOB+CR)
  • Custom Protocol

Posturography

Postural sway

They refer to the micro-variations of the Center of Pressure (CoP) during upright standing.

Postural stability
It indicates the neuromuscular system’s ability to control the body’s position in space, ensuring balance under static conditions.

Plantar load asymmetry
It refers to the unequal distribution of body weight between the lower limbs, quantified by the lateral displacement of the CoP or by the percentage difference in pressure between the right and left foot.
